About the course
The “Fundamentals of standardization” training will start in the beginning of 2025. Organizer of the training is the Bulgarian Institute of Standardization. The lecturers’ list includes: Iren Dabizheva, Lilia Kostova, Rositsa Georgieva, Boryana Mihailova, Silvia Samichkova, Zdravko Georgiev, Petar Lozev.
The course is designed for university lecturers, PhD students and scientists who are interested in the processes of standards development and implementation, leading standards in the field of management systems and the benefits of standardization in the field of chemistry. Basic concepts and methods of innovation management, and the tools and methods of intellectual property management are of special interest for the research activity.
The course is structured in three main parts: standardization part, management systems, risk and innovation management. The first part covers basic concepts and principles in the field of standardization and the standardization process at national, European and international level. Special attention is paid to the benefits of standardization activities in the field of chemistry and the use of standards in the learning process. Familiarization of students with the most popular standards in the field of management systems and the management system of educational organizations (ISO 21001) forms the second part of the course. It concludes with an examination of the standard for integrating social responsibility into the organization (ISO 26000). The third part includes a focus on basic concepts of innovation management and basic tools and methods of intellectual property protection.
The training will take place within 30 study hours, once a week, where one study hour equals 45 minutes. It will include a balanced mix of theoretical and practical sessions, with each module concluding with a discussion section.
