UCTM and Centre for disruptive innovation Ltd. concluded a framework agreement for the exchange of know-how in the field of research and development

On September 4, 2024, a framework agreement was concluded between the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy – Sofia and Centre for disruptive innovation Ltd.

Subject of the agreement is the exchange of research and development know-how and good practices in in the field of chemical and metallurgical technologies, the implementation of technologies based on the achieved scientific results, related to the activities of the university and the company in connection with the implementation of a project “BiOrgaMCT”.

The agreement, concluded for a period of 3 years, has entirely practical nature and is administered by the Centre for Technology Transfer, funded under project BG-RRP-2.004-0002-C02 “BiOrgaMCT” (Bioactive Organic and Inorganic Advanced Materials and Clean Technologies) under the procedure: BG-RRP-2.004 – “Establishment of a network of research universities in Bulgaria” under the National Plan for Recovery and Sustainability.

For the implementation of the contract, UCTM commits to provide consulting assistance in the implementation of collaborative research and development activities through the expertise of its researchers in the field of chemical technologies. If necessary and requested by the Centre for disruptive innovation Ltd., the university will conduct targeted trainings to increase the qualifications of the company’s employees.

Center for disruptive innovation Ltd. was created based on the Gamechanger philosophy – it aims to be innovative in small and large-scale ventures by looking for original technologies that others still don’t use and thereby creating new opportunities, rather than being a consumer of opportunities that others create.

As a first step of the collaborative activity, an additional agreement has already been concluded, which aims at specific research work on the topic “Investigation of the possibilities of using the nanocarbon product “Karban” in the production of protectors for pneumatic tires, technical rubber products – more especially sealants, antistatic coatings, microwave absorbers, pads and insulating layers in antennas for wireless communications”. With the conclusion of the contract, the University commits to develop the task with final result obtained and optimized compositions for elastomeric composites by the end of February 2025. The research work is financed jointly by Centre for disruptive innovation Ltd. and University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy, which finances 50% of the development through means from the budget of the Centre for Technology Transfer under Contract No.: BG-RRP-2.004-0002, “BiOrgaMCT” under procedure: BG-RRP-2.004 – “Establishment of a network of research universities in Bulgaria” under the National Plan for Recovery and Sustainability.
