About the course
Training in prototyping through 3D scanning, modeling and printing is organized by Cluster Hoisting Devices Ltd., with the participation of professors and doctoral students from the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy (UCTM).
The course is aimed at practical familiarization with various scanning and printing technologies and their possible use in the prototyping process. Within the course, participants are given the opportunity to handle 3D scanners Artec Leo and Artec Micro, with high-quality 3D printing machines of world-famous brands – ULTIMAKER, MARKFORGED, FORMLABS, working with three different 3D printing technologies: FFF (Fused Filament Fabrication ), CFR (Continuous Fiber Reinforcement) and LFS (Low Force Stereolithography).
In the theoretical part, the participants get acquainted with the history of the technology for 3D scanning of objects, the different types of scanners and the cases in which they are used. The practical part includes demonstrations of the scanners for scanning small details and medium to large details. Course participants scan details and make their own prototypes using 3D printers.
The training was commissioned and financed by UCTM in connection with the implementation of Contract No.: BG-RRP-2.004-0002-C03, “BiOrgaMCT” (Bioactive Organic and Inorganic Advanced Materials and Clean Technologies) under the procedure “Establishment of a network of research universities in Bulgaria”.
