UCTM establishes a start-up company based on a registered utility model

At a meeting of the Academic Council of UCTM held on 18 June 2025, a unanimous decision was taken to establish a start-up company at the university based on a registered utility model. The company is being established in connection with the implementation of the BiOrgaMCT project.

The utility model with registration No. 4855 and priority from 25 March 2024 is owned by UCTM and was also created in connection with the implementation of the BiOrgaMCT project. The inventors are Kamelia Kirilova Anichina-Zarkova, Nikolay Borisov Lumov and Darina Ivanova Zheleva. The name of the utility model is COLLAGEN CONTAINING ANTIOXIDANT COMPOSITION. It refers to an antioxidant composition based on hydrolysed collagen, designed to deeply hydrate the skin and protect it from the harmful effects of the environment, including harmful ultraviolet radiation.

Based on an application filed with The Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria for registration of the word trademark ‘SIAYNA’ (trademark No. 176614 from 28.02.2025) for the proposed cosmetic product, manufactured according to the composition approved in the utility model, has been recognised as a registered trademark owned by UCTM.

The start-up company named ‘SIAYNA’ and managed by Assoc. prof. Kamelia Anichina, will be 100% owned by UCTM and administered by the Centre for Technology Transfer, established under the BiOrgaMCT project, as it most accurately illustrates the meaning of its activity, namely to transfer laboratory knowledge to industrial application.
