On February 8, 2024, AmCham Bulgaria had the opportunity to visit the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy (UCTM).
The working visit was hosted by Prof. Dr. Senya Terzieva, Rector of UCTM, who acquainted the guests with the history, mission, and development plans of the university.
Ivan Mihaylov, CEO, and Daniel Kiryakov, Communications & Public Affairs Manager, were introduced to polymer engineering by Prof. Dishovsky, as well as to the circular economy and deep processing of raw materials activities in the university by assoc. Peshev, Deputy Rector for scientific activities and international cooperation. Petko Krastev, Manager for Bulgaria, Dow Chemicals Gmbh, also took part in the visit.
Among the highlights of the meeting was the building and subsequent development of academic education and scientific experience with business and the practical application of scientific developments.
The two sides committed to looking together for ways to further convergence between the industries directly related to UCTM, as well as to encourage young people to choose engineering specialties that can provide them with knowledge, employment, and a future in Bulgaria.
