UCTM opened an international scientific conference 24 – 28 March, 2025
From 24 to 28 March 2025, an international scientific conference “Bioactive, Organic and Inorganic Advanced Materials and Clean Technologies” will be held at Grand Hotel Sofia. The conference will bring together over 30 international researchers and over 100 researchers from the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy – Sofia, institutes of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. The conference is organized within the framework of the project BG-RRP-2.004-0002 “BiOrgaMCT”, funded by the EU under the National Recovery and Sustainability Plan.
The conference was opened by Professor Senia Terzieva-Zhelyazkova, Rector of the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy, who welcomed the participants and in her speech emphasized the importance of EU support for expanding and strengthening the international contacts of the researchers involved in the “BiOrgaMCT” project. After the opening of the conference, Prof. Dimitar Peshev, Vice-Rector of scientific affairs, presented the scientific results of the University over the past 5 years, in which a significant increase in internationally recognized scientific publications has been noted, and presented initiatives for career development of doctoral students at the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy and the opportunities for them to participate in scientific and development activities in industrial enterprises.
The conference continues with its scientific program, in three scientific topics – Light-Responsive Materials, New generation materials and Biologically active molecules.
As part of the cultural and social program of the conference, a visit to the laboratories of the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy, an outdoor tour in Sofia and a visit to world cultural heritage sites in the city of Plovdiv are planned. As a result of the conference, it is also planned to publish scientific articles in two prestigious journals, refereed and indexed in world scientific databases.
